🚀 The myth of RAM optimisers: why your PC doesn't need "miracle programs"
You have surely seen ads for programs that promise to "free up RAM with one click" or "speed up your PC by 200%". At ByteChip we receive many computers saturated with these supposed optimisers which, in reality, are part of the problem and not the solution.
Today we are going to explain why "empty" RAM is of no use and why you should uninstall those programs right now.
1. Empty RAM is wasted RAM
The most common mistake is to think that having a lot of free RAM is good. In modern systems such as Windows 10 and 11, memory management is smart: Windows fills the RAM with data it thinks you will use soon so that applications open instantly.
If a program forcibly "frees" that RAM, all it achieves is that the next time you open an application, the PC takes longer because it has to read the data again from the hard drive or SSD.
2. The "yo-yo" effect of optimisers
These programs work by aggressively closing background processes. What happens next?
- Windows detects that it has lost essential processes.
- The system immediately reopens them.
- This cycle consumes CPU cycles and power, causing stutters (lag) and higher battery consumption on laptops.
3. The danger of "crapware" and advertising
Many free optimisers are actually "crapware". They come bundled with other unwanted programs, toolbars or intrusive ads that monitor your activity, consuming —ironically— more resources than they promise to free.
4. What should you do instead of using these programs?
If you feel your PC is running short of memory, the solution is not magic software, but real management of the hardware and the system:
- Manage Startup: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, go to the "Startup" tab and disable programs you do not need to start with the PC.
- Upgrade the hardware: If your PC has 4GB or 8GB of RAM and you work with many Chrome tabs or design, the real solution is to add a physical memory module.
- Clean temporary files: Use Windows' own tool ("Disk Cleanup"), which is safe and does not stay resident in memory.
🛠️ Is your PC still slow despite everything?
Sometimes the problem is not RAM, but a badly configured operating system, remnants of viruses or a dying hard drive. At ByteChip we help you really optimise your computer:
- Real diagnosis: We analyse what is slowing your PC down without using miracle software.
- RAM and SSD upgrades: The only guaranteed way to notice a real and lasting speed improvement.
- Technical cleaning: We remove junk software and optimise Windows services so you make the most of every gigabyte of your memory.
